The Council of the Innovation and Research Center The Sense, along with its executive management, is pleased to announce that the UNIL–CHUV-PMU Steering Committee has decided to appoint Professor Micah Murray to the position of full professor for research, innovation, and training in the field of sensory sciences. This decision also confirms his role as the Scientific and Academic Director of Sense. Professor Murray, who had already been serving in these roles on an interim basis, is now officially recognized for his commitment and contributions to the Faculty.
We are delighted with this official appointment and warmly congratulate Professor Micah Murray on this new milestone in his career. His leadership will continue to play a crucial role in the development of research and innovation in the field of sensory sciences.
Biography
Born in 1973, Professor Micah Murray, an American national, began his academic career with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and English literature from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He then obtained a Master’s degree in neuroscience from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University in New York in 1999. Three years later, he completed a Ph.D. in neuroscience “with honors” focused on the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying object recognition. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), he secured a position as a research project leader in the Radiology Department and the Neuropsychology Division of CHUV in 2003, where he directed the Functional Electrical Neuroimaging Laboratory. He soon earned the titles of senior lecturer and privat-docent. In January 2007, Professor Murray became co-director of the EEG module of the CIBM, before being appointed associate professor at UNIL in August 2011.
